Assessment of Heat Loss by a Typical Five-Story Residential Building as a Factor of Urban Environmental Safety

Authors

Abstract

Recently, the issue of increasing energy efficiency has become particularly relevant and directly related to the energy and environmental safety of densely populated cities. However, the Energy Conservation, Energy Efficiency, and Rational Use of Fuel and Energy Resources Program in Dnipro for 2022-2026 note that the majority of the city's housing stock (as well as in many densely populated cities in Ukraine) was built in the 1950s to 1990s and includes a significant number of typical five-story residential buildings with low energy efficiency, leading to increased fuel consumption by urban boiler houses and consequently higher emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere.

Thus, to increase the level of environmental safety in urban areas, these buildings require reconstruction aimed at conserving thermal and fuel resources. The selection of effective heat and energy-saving technologies in these buildings requires an assessment of their heat loss during the heating season.
