3D Printing in the Manufacture of Parts in Robotics
Abstract
Today, modern 3D printers can produce virtually any three-dimensional part in a relatively short time. Although initially 3D printing technologies were mainly used for prototyping, now advanced technologies and materials allow printing not just prototypes, but functional products suitable for everyday use [1, 2]. The main advantage of 3D printing over traditional manufacturing technologies is considered to be the principle of "direct manufacturing," where finished products are printed directly from digital models, can have virtually any shape, without material waste or the need for tools and expensive equipment.
One of the many areas of application of 3D printing technology is educational robotics, which allows for the development and creation of working robot models, thereby significantly improving the practical component and expanding the possibilities of studying disciplines related to robotics and mechatronics, both in higher education and significantly enhancing interest in this type of additional education among schoolchildren.
The paper demonstrates the capabilities of using 3D printing technology in the implementation of the project "Intelligent Robot-Manipulator," which is being carried out at the Department of Mechatronics of the Faculty of Physics and Technology of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University in collaboration with the engineering school "Noosphere." As an example, the design and manufacturing process of the "base" part is presented.
